Stories about the rich lives of the Sistahs and owners at Davis will be continued…

tues afteroon (8.2.2022) i was sitting in my car. SOCIALLY DISTANCED. in front of Davis Cafe, in montgomery. being me.
i’d just finished eating lunch. cabbage & rutabagas & cornbread!!
and i saw a beacon/flashing lights… looked thru window and there was a state trooper and two blk SUVs.
ppl had driven up from White Hall, and they went into Davis and wrote the following press release!! [i didn’t ask–what did they eat ? :)) ]
i knew SOMETHING was going on. and it felt Good. before the trooper and SUVs got there. just observing the assortment of ppl entering a closed restaurant reminded me of our meeting and eating fried chicken at Paschal’s in the ’70s!
i felt it. and that it was fundamentally Good. and i was at Davis! for such a Time as this.
so. i waited. for whomever was supposed to tell me. so i could tell IT.
family, many kind souls were inside Davis Cafe, including staff from the US Dept of Agriculture. and the US Environmental Protection Agency (EPA). Special acknowledgment goes to EPA Region 4 Administrator, Daniel Blackman. Can’t wait to talk to Mr Blackman…
But, tues, i was meant to talk to EPA citizen-servants, Brandi and David

HERE’s THE ANNOUNCEMENT

MONTGOMERY, Ala.– (August 2, 2022) Today, at an event in Lowndes County, Alabama, where a significant number of residents lack access to wastewater infrastructure, the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) and U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) announced the Closing America’s Wastewater Access Gap Community Initiative. The new initiative will be piloted in 11 communities across the country where residents lack basic wastewater management that is essential to protecting their health and the environment. EPA and USDA will jointly leverage technical assistance resources to help historically underserved communities identify and pursue federal funding opportunities – including from President Biden’s Bipartisan Infrastructure Law – to address their wastewater needs and eliminate harmful exposure to backyard sewage.” [continues pondering 306].
