Congressman John Lewis and The Rev. Cordy Tindell “C.T.” Vivian both died in Atlanta on July 17, 2020.
The Rev. Vivian died of natural causes the morning of the 17th at his home. He was 95 years old. The Reverend’s EARTH-day was July 30, 1924.
Congressman Lewis, 80 years old, died of pancreatic cancer later that night. Representative Lewis’s EARTHday was February 21, 1940.
In my opinion, the transition of these two human rights warriors signaled the passing of the Justice Torch to our younger generation.
The rainbows—and this is also in my Spirit—-are encouragement to us from TheUniverse that those humble servant leaders did not labor in vain.
Yes. There are mounting efforts to reverse blood-born voting rights victories. These dark forces will not win. Can not win. We are more than confident that those triumphs will multiply—increase double fold—just like that double rainbow!
We know that “it’s in the action” (Vivian) and we will continue to get in “good trouble.”(Lewis)
